The library has a book about making projects using egg cartons which I used as the basis for this class. I brought lots of paper egg cartons, a couple of boxes of other recyclable materials, glue and let the group go on their own to create things. A few gave a glance to the book being much more interested in what was on the table and in their imaginations. Some made one project and some made a few. All of them generated smiles.
This blog features art classes in the Wells Branch community taught by Dianne Koehler, artist. The programs lets us turn donated or recyclable materials and imagination into great projects.

birch trees painting is amazing
I thought this would be more of a challenge than it turned out to be. We painted these on canvas with acrylics although most of the kids have never seen a birch tree. First we tore painters tape into strips and put them onto the camas over a single line. I had said we didn't need to do the reflections but several of the kids or adults took those on too. Best part was the ooohs and aaaahs when they peeled off the tape.
